(OCTOBER 5, 2018) – Detained former senator Bong Revilla will seek a spot in the 2019 midterm elections, his party confirmed.
Lakas-CMD President Martin Romualdez made the announcement on Friday, citing Revilla as “one of the most qualified senatorial aspirants.”
“His experience as a two-term senator has helped him gain an
understanding about the complexities of various problems besetting the
nation,” Lakas-CMD told in a statement.
Revilla, who’s in trial for plunder for his alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam, is predicted to land the 11th to 17th spots in the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia for the midterms.
The former action star is detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
Lakas-CMD also bared it will support the senatorial candidates endorsed by incumbent Davao City mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party.
